Kenya, here I come!
Hujambo!
It's official, I'm going to Kenya!! I'm beyond excited. The program I'll be volunteering for combines so many issues that I'm passionate about that it's really a dream come true. I feel so lucky to have this opportunity and I cannot wait for my departure date! I'm doing absolutely everything I can think of to prepare. I know there's nothing I can do to prepare myself mentally and emotionally though, so for now I'm concentrating on the logistics- getting my flights, vaccinations, figuring out what to bring... I even started learning Swahili since I'm not sure exactly where I'll be placed in Kenya, and in the little villages I can't guarantee that the people speak English (although in the major cities they do).
African Wisdom for the day: "Many little people in many small places undertaking many modest actions can transform the world."
-African proverb
Kwa heri for now,
Amanda
